Jay Shah will continue as ACC President (Asian Cricket Council). His extension for another year was unanimously accepted by the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bali on Wednesday. Shah, the BCCI’s secretary, is in his second year of a two-year term as ACC Chief.

Shammi Silva, the president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), proposed Shah’s extension, and all ACC members unanimously supported the proposal. According to an ACC press release issued on Wednesday.

Shah became the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as ACC president when he took over from Nazmul Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, in January 2021.

The presidency of the ACC is rotated among the continental body’s full ICC members. Shah is the first to serve two terms consecutively. “I am grateful to the ACC Board for their ongoing trust. We must remain committed to guaranteeing the sport’s overall development, with a particular emphasis on areas where it is still in its infancy. “The ACC is committed to developing cricket throughout Asia,” Shah declared following his re-election.

At the conclusion of the annual general meeting, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), who was next in line for the position, proposed Shah’s continuation. “Jay has played a critical role in driving the ACC to tremendous progress in promoting and strengthening cricket throughout Asia. Under Mr. Shah’s direction, the ACC president has played an important role. He has helped discovering and promoting emerging talent in cricketing powerhouses such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka,” SLC CEO Shammi Silva stated.
