BCCI plans to organize the IPL 2024 from March 22 to May 26.
The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 22, just five days after the Women’s Premier League (WPL) ends. The Tata IPL will run until May 26, just five days before the start of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and Caribbean. However, India’s first World Cup encounter is scheduled nine days later, on June 5.
According to the initial schedule approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with its stakeholders, the second season of the WPL will be held from February 22 to March 17. As previously reported, the league would be held in Bengaluru and Delhi. The official announcement of the dates is expected within a day or two, most likely on Monday.
the IPL schedule is tightly linked to the General Election schedule. The BCCI is privately exploring hosting the tournament between March 22 and May 26. The schedule can only be confirmed after the election dates are revealed, but the BCCI is sure that the entire league would be held in India.
The BCCI received guarantees from most cricket bodies that their players will be accessible until the final. However, with the T20 World Cup starting on June 1, early exits of some players cannot be ruled out. But, at this point, the BCCI’s principal goal is to align the schedule with the general elections and organize the league in India.
