ALEX ROSS IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He says that he has been doing less than normal in the off-season and has just been playing club cricket. Adds on by saying that it is always nice to bat up the order. Further says that 141 was never enough for this wicket and gives credit to the bowlers. Concludes by saying that, everyone is on the same page and they get along well, they have no ego involved, and they are looking to win as many games as possible.
Not the best bowling display by Heat but they also never had enough runs on the board to trouble the Thunder batters. Their start was a solid one as they snared 3 wickets inside the Powerplay, with Liam Guthrie taking two, and Xavier Bartlett snatching one wicket. But, after that, they failed to keep building the pressure and allowed the Thunder batters to settle in and once the batters of Thunder were set, there was no looking back for them.
Thunder did not start off in the best manner as they lost three wickets inside the Powerplay and were struggling to keep the scorecard ticking. The onus fell on the duo of Sam Billings and Alex Ross and boy, did they deliver for their team. They steadied things, got their eye in, and once they were settled, they started to display their strokeplay. They stitched an unbeaten stand of 109 ensured that they begin this new campaign with all possible points to their name.
Sydney Thunder starts off with a win under their belt as they have beaten Brisbane Heat by 7 wickets! The chase was not too much of a hassle for them as they bowled really well and restricted Heat to a tame score and then, batted with authority to ensure that they start on the right note and have bagged all 4 points in this game.
