Man of the Match
Kane Richardson

So, that is it from this game! A very important win for the Renegades. Big Bash action continues on Tuesday, 4th January as Brisbane Heat take on Sydney Sixers. That game begins at 1345 IST (0815 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
Kane Richardson is the Player of the Match, he says that it is a good feeling to win the derby. Adds that the situations are good and bad and the youngsters get the opportunity. Informs that he wasn't sure if he was playing today and hopefully the other players who are not playing will come back soon. Adds that Maxwell and Hilton were the two big wickets. Says it is a young group and they should learn and win just like they did today.
... The Presentation ...
Earlier in the day, the Renegades bowlers did exceptionally well to keep the Stars to a low score. The likes of Richardson, Nic Maddinson and Reece Topley bowled really well. In reply, they were cruising till the time Finch was there, there was a small stutter towards the middle but the lower-order took them over the line.
Stars fought well with the ball, the likes of Rauf and Qais Ahmad stepped up! Tom O'Connell showed what he is capable of. Daniyal did not have the best of starts but came back strongly later on. However, they just did not have enough runs on the board. Maybe another 20 and the story could have well been different.
Finch though will be disappointed they did not finish the game a lot earlier and that is exactly what he was aiming for when he was batting. After losing Harper early, Finch and Marsh got the chase back on track with an attacking-stand. Marsh and Nic Maddinson fell quickly but Finch continued along his merry way. He got to his fifty but fell immediately. Nabi too followed and that wicket would have raised a few doubts in the Renegades' mind but James Seymour and Mackenzie Harvey played well and took their side over the line.
A really good partnership between Harvey and Seymour to get their side over the line and the move to bring in Seymour as the X-factor has worked brilliantly. Yes, many would say the situation was not that tough when they came in but for a team which has won just one game so far, surely there would have been nerves. The two though kept their calm and have given their side an important win.
