Saturday, 23rd November, 2024, sees another four set of matches coming your way, with the first clash set to begin at 1.15 pm local (0915 GMT) between Morrisville Samp Army and UP Nawabs, ranked second and last respectively, as of now. We shall be in early, for the pre-match build up, so please do tune in early. Not to forget, there is plenty of action unravelling from the fast-moving Test in Perth while you can also catch a Test moving a bit slowly in comparison, but still exciting, between West Indies and Bangladesh in Antigua. Victorious Deccan Gladiators' skipper, NICHOLAS POORAN, first thanks the almighty and calls it a good game for his side. Praises Buttler and Stoinis, calling them out aloud for taking their responsibilities, after biding a bit of time in the middle, giving them a crucial few hits in the last few overs. Calls his team as a very powerful one and understands that you need to have a good bowling unit in a batting-friendly tournament. Wants his side to not rest on their laurels but have a look at the conditions in their next game before hitting their gear and then play accordingly.

Deccan Gladiators' JOS BUTTLER HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his swashbuckling unbeaten 60 (22) which had 3 fours and 6 sixes. Buttler says he is loving the experience and it is a great team to be a part of. Adds that the conditions are good and the balls are coming through well. Mentions that there is no time to question oneself in such a short format and there has to be just one motto of just seeing the ball and hitting it.

Earlier in the game, Ajman Bolts actually started well with the ball. They bowled in the right areas, picking up 3/57 in the first 6 overs. But then, Deccan Gladiators chose to utilize their Floating Powerplay in the 7th over and what happened next, was total carnage. Jos Buttler started the attack while Marcus Stoinis enjoyed himself later on. James Neesham enjoyed a good outing with the ball, picking up 2/17. Please stay tuned for the presentation...

Could Ajman have started their attack a bit sooner? Could Hemraj have been retired? Deccan scored 80 in their last 4 overs. The Bolts scored 72 in their last 4. So there was actually nothing much to choose between the sides, in the end. But that slow start made the chase extremely difficult for Ajman. Neesham and Nabi provided a rearguard launch, raising an unbeaten 75 in 26 balls, at least, ensuring that they did not suffer too badly in terms of their net run rate. They need to work on their batting order.

Although the total of 137 was a mighty one, the Gladiators were guarded against the dew. Nicholas Pooran got the dice rolling with Luke Wood and Richard Gleeson and they set the tone, going for just 27 in the first 4 overs. With Chandrapaul Hemraj struggling to time the ball, Deccan profited and got the overs done by. They did concede 59 in overs 7-9 but the game was almost in their grabs by then. Gleeson was the pick of the bowlers with 2/14 in 2 overs.

2 wins in 2 games and handsome ones in both. Deccan Gladiators have jumped to the top of the points table while Ajman Bolts, with 2 losses in 2 matches, are second from bottom. If you look at their score in isolation, 117 is not a bad total at all. But chasing 138, they almost dozed off to sleep in the first 6 overs and by the time they woke up, the train had left the station.

SIX! A biggie to end the game. A half volley, on middle, Mohammad Nabi gives himself room to the leg side and carves it over cover. DECCAN GLADIATORS WIN BY 20 RUNS!

Down the leg side, Neesham misses his flick and wears it on his pads. The ball dribbles away and a leg bye is taken.

FOUR! Around middle, Neesham swings hard. The ball goes off the inner half of the bat and escapes behind square leg.

Nicely bowled! A wide yorker, just within the tramline on off. James Neesham leaves it hoping for it to be called a wide but it isn't!

Goes full and on off, Mohammad Nabi clubs hard but finds the man at long off who slides across to his right and keeps it down to just a single.

Steams in from around the wicket and angles it in, on a back of a length, over middle, James Neesham fails to read the length early and misses on the pull. The ball clips him high on the thigh and goes towards short third. A leg bye taken.

FOUR! Exquisite shot. Another low full toss, this time outside off. Nabi just opens the face of his bat and guides it behind point. 20 from the over, 59 in the last 3!
