Right then! That is all we have from Super Saturday. Sunday, 31st October, brings two more exciting games to us. First, we will see Afghanistan face off against Namibia at 2 pm Local (10 am GMT) and later in the day, we have a big clash. India and New Zealand will lock horns in a crucial game. That will begin at 6 pm Local (2 pm GMT). See you there. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England, says that it feels pretty good to win this game and continue the momentum. Adds that it was a big game and the start they got with the ball was very important. Informs that having a couple of all-rounders in the side comes in handy in such conditions. Praises Roy and Buttler for the way they batted and made the chase easy for them. Says that they treat every team with respect and take no team lightly.
Aaron Finch, the skipper of Australia, says that they lost too many wickets in the Powerplay, but they tried to get 150 on the board. Mentions that Chris Woakes is a brilliant bowler and England put them on the back foot early. Tells that one has to bowl them out with that kind of total but Jos Buttler played one hell of an innings. Adds that they have got a couple of days to rest and then have a game against Bangladesh to focus on.
Stay tuned to hear from both the skippers.
Chris Jordan is the Player of the Match! He says that it was a great bowling effort and they were trying to continue with the momentum. Adds that they are trying to keep it as simple as possible and hold the length back. Says that he just tries to stick to his strengths and he tries to work hard and put in a good performance.
Not much to talk about Australia. They had a horrid day with the bat and a total of 125 was never going to be enough against the mighty England batting. A few early wickets could have made things interesting but that did not happen as they leaked 66 in the Powerplay. Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa took a wicket each but it did not matter much. The Aussies lost the game with the bat though. Their top order folded early and if hadn't been for some sensible batting by Aaron Finch and some late hitting by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, they wouldn't have crossed the 120-run mark.
An absolute mockery was made of the target by England. They looked in a hurry to get over the line and they executed their plans brilliantly. Jason Roy and Dawid Malan did not hang around for long but Jos Buttler put on a show for the crowd. The keeper was on song against the Aussies and sent the ball sailing all over the ground. Jonny Bairstow too got a few big ones towards the end and the game was over in a jiffy.
What a game for England! They have absolutely dominated this game and did not give Australia even a sniff at victory. A clinical show by them and they have deserved to win this top-of-the-table clash. Third win in a row for them and they are well on track to make it to the semi-finals of the competition.
