Earlier in the day, a combined batting effort saw Birmingham Phoenix Women get to a really good total. Later, Northern Superchargers Women made a really good game of it courtesy Alyssa Healy and Laura Wolvaardt but fell short in the end to record their second loss of the season.
Birmingham Phoenix Women record three wins in three, in front of a record crowd at home. The bowling held its nerve in the end. Can’t really say the bowlers were at their best but they did manage to provide the goods when needed. Sophie Molineux though was outstanding. She got 15 dot balls of her spell of 20 and it is her spell which won the game for her side. She was quite easily the pick of the bowlers.
The start was brilliant from Alyssa Healy and when she was batting her side was on top. She was also supported well from Gaby Lewis who played the second fiddle. However, once Alyssa Healy fell they lost three wickets in no time. Laura Wolvaardt and the skipper, Hollie Armitage played brilliantly towards the end. They revived the hopes but could not manage to take their side over the line:
A really good effort by the Northern Superchargers Women but they’ve fallen short in the end. The wickets after the first one is what dampened their chances or the story could have well been different. Birmingham Phoenix Women still remain unbeaten in the competition.
