Colin Munro, the victorious skipper of Northern Warriors appreciates the way Trent Boult and Saqib Mahmood bowled and says that this total was under par and Johnson Charles did it for them. Adds that they look to play aggressively but also try to be smart in their approach which is a key and hopes they continue it going ahead in the tournament.
Trent Boult is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his outstanding spell with the ball. He says it's a nice win on a really good wicket. Adds that he is very inexperienced in the T10 arena but has learnt a lot in the last season and he only looks to keep it simple and enjoy this new team. Mentions that it is nice to play under Munro and the format is fun and they just look forward to doing it all again in the next game.
It's time for the Presentation Ceremony...
Earlier in the game, the Northern Warriors made an early impact by dismantling the openers but Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Chris Lynn worked hard to steady the ship and accelerate the scoring. While they managed to find some rhythm in the middle overs, the Warriors’ exceptional pace attack made run-scoring a tough challenge. Trent Boult and Saqib Mahmood were the standout bowlers, delivering with remarkable precision. Rajapaksa's fighting knock of 41 off 21 balls stood out, proving crucial in propelling the Jaguars to a decent total of 99 runs.
Despite losing skipper Colin Munro for a golden duck in the first over, Brandon King and Johnson Charles ensured there was no let-up in momentum. Their aggressive stroke play kept the boundaries flowing, never allowing the pressure to mount. Akila Dananjaya provided a brief glimmer of hope by dismissing King, but Charles continued his blazing form, receiving valuable support from Azmatullah Omarzai to see the Warriors home with 9 balls to spare. All in all, an emphatic win for the Warriors!
A solid unbeaten knock of 52 from Johnson Charles made this chase look effortless as the Northern Warriors cruised to a convincing 7-wicket victory, marking their second consecutive win. Charles’ masterclass ensured the pressure never mounted, guiding his side home with ease. On the other hand, the Chennai Brave Jaguars will have a lot to contemplate, especially their underwhelming bowling performances, which has been a recurring issue in both their matches so far. They’ll need significant improvements if they hope to turn their campaign around.
