That's all we have. The second match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Durban Super Giants is already underway. Switch the tabs and join us there. Cheers!
Rassie van der Dussen wins the Player of the Match award. He says he loves to play at his home ground. Reckons these two games have shown that he and Ryan Rickelton can build good partnership and it is important going into the competition. They just feed of each other well and is disappointed as Ryan Rickelton missed his century and feels he will have a great season forward.
Kieron Pollard says the openers laid the foundation for them and have done for two games now. Adds he just tries to give confidence to the players, they have played well but have to continue now. Reckons they just try to execute their skills and play sensibly. Adds his bowlers did well to control the damage. Shares it is important to get the bonus point as that will help at the back end of this tournament.
Faf du Plessis says they gave away too many soft balls but MI Cape Town played exceptionally well. Adds he felt like they would chase 300 at one point but they bowled well at the back end. Reckons they needed a big partnership but the game was done once they lost a couple of wickets early on. Shares he was a bit surprised by the pitch. Tells George Linde bowled well, he got some bounce and turn.
... Presentation time...
Joburg Super Kings needed a big start but instead lost 3 wickets inside 5 overs. There was nothing much in their batting. Leus du Plooy played a small cameo while Romario Shepherd played with lady-luck to hit a few boundaries. MI Cape Town will be happy with the win but will be disappointed with how they fielded. That was the only negative in such a dominating effort. Once Joburg Super Kings lost the likes of Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali, the win was certain for MI Cape Town who gets off the mark this season with a massive result.
Total dominance from MI Cape Town and they register their first victory. The win was set up by the batters, the openers actually as Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton showed no mercy to the Joburg Super Kings bowlers and put on a show for the crowd. They added around 200 with Rassie van der Dussen scoring a century while Ryan Rickelton missed out on his ton just by 2 runs. Anything above 200 was going to be difficult and it proved to be for Joburg Super Kings.
