The Men's Hunderd, 2024 action continues as we have a Monday, the 12th of August. It will be between the Birmingham Phoenix and the Trent Rockets. The game will begin at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT) but as you know, our build up begins much sooner so do join us for the same. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Nicholas Pooran is the Player of the Match for his excellent knock. He says that Hose struck the final shot well and he is happy to get back in form. Adds that they need everyone to get back in form and ends by saying that in the shorter formats, they need to peak at the right moments.
... THE PRESENTATION ...
Earlier in the game, Mitchell Santner' effort helped the Manchester Originals to restrict the Superchargers to 152/7 which at a point seemed much higher. It was Phil Salt playing the aggressor role as he scored a rapid 61 runs off 28 balls. The Originals got off to a blazing start with 45 runs for the opening wicket, but lost wickets regularly after Hurst fell to a slower ball from Pat Brown. Santner took 3 wickets, helping to stabilize the Superchargers' bowling after a shaky start. Despite the Originals appearing on track for a total over 200, the Superchargers' bowlers pulled things back effectively.
Manchester Originals will be upset with how things ended for them. At the halfway stage, they had the game in their hands but they failed to get over the line. Usama Mir was their most economical and he picked up one wicket. Fazalhaq Farooqi conceded just 2 runs in his opening 2 sets but he went for 22 in his final set. That was also the penultimate set and it proved the very much costly.
What a turnaround this has been from the Northern Superchargers! First with the ball and now with the bat. They needed 118 off the last 47 balls and they did the job in some style. Nicholas Pooran's unbeaten 66 runs helped them get over the line and kept them in the race for the finals! They were off to a shaky start but after the halfway stage, Harry Brook and Nicholas Pooran pressed the accelerator. Harry Brook departed after a quickfire 43 but Adam Hose took the charge alongside Nicholas Pooran and completed the job with him.
