The victorious skipper of New York Strikers Kieron Pollard says they will try to keep the momentum as T10 is all about momentum and for them it would be just to do the same things day in and day out. Mentions that Muhammad Waseem has been fantastic with the bat and Muhammad Jawadullah has done well with the ball and such performances make it easy for the captain and the management. Adds that the positive from this game was how the team reacted when Asif Khan was going crazy in the middle and pulled the game back in our favor.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the player of the match for his brilliant innings and his work behind the wickets. He says that the batting was good as the wicket was not easy to bat on. Adds that the team is acting as a family and he hopes that every player continues to have fun and keep playing like this. Mentions that the management backs the side in every situation and that gives a lot of confidence to the unit.
Time for the presentation ceremony.
Earlier in the day, New York Strikers batted well to score 110 in their quota of 10 overs. The dashing duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Muhammad Jawadullah had a 62-run partnership for the 1st wicket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 41 before departing while Muhammad Waseem scored 23 runs before his dismissal. Runs kept flowing with cameos from Odean Smith and Kieron Pollard right at the depth. The bowling from Team Abu Dhabi was decent though with Noor Ahmad picking up 3 wickets giving away 23 runs while Dwaine Pretorius and Binura Fernando chipped in with a wicket each as well.
Bowling from New York Strikers was good and they never let the game slip out of their grasp by picking up wickets regularly. Sunil Narine picked up a couple while Akeal Hosein and Muhammad Jawadullah picket up a wicket each. The economy rates of all the bowlers part from Chamika Karunaratne were under 10 and that is a brilliant sight for the franchise moving ahead.
Chasing down 110 the batter of Team Abu Dhabi never got going and were stranded for runs with wickets tumbling throughout. Apart from a partnership between Kyle Mayers and Asif Khan nothing happened for Team Abu Dhabi with the bat. Asif Khan came out firing on all cylinders but lost his rhythm once Muhammad Jawadullah was introduced into the attack. Kyle Mayers did score 22 but performed way below expectations.
Yet another victory for the New York Strikers and 6th defeat out of 6 for Team Abu Dhabi. The New York Strikers now climb to 2nd with 8 points in 5 games and a game in hand on table toppers Deccan Gladiators.
