Right then, that it is from this game and this series as well where England comfortably comes on top of Pakistan. The trophy has been handed over to the captain Jos Buttler who joins his entire team to pose for some pictures. The next destination for both of these teams will be the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which will start on 2nd June, Sunday. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Jos Buttler, the victorious skipper of England is also the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for his brilliant batting performances. He talks about the performance being good in the series, he mentions the nets sessions been a big part in the success. He further adds that always keep working on yourself is the answer of a good performance and thats what him and the team have been doing. He says that getting a few good wins before the big stage always gives you a good mental space and he is happy that the team is doing well before the World Cup.
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan says that they batted well in the Powerplay but once he got out, the momentum shifted and they suffered a collapse and that's where you need your middle order to step up. Adds that it is very difficult to gain back that momentum and England bowled very well giving nothing away but they hope that they can learn from this and rectify their mistakes in the World Cup. Mentions that they have played good cricket in patches but will need to improve in a few areas, and they are confident of performing well in the big event.
Adil Rashid is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his impressive bowling effort. He talks about assessing the conditions and bowling accordingly helped him tonight. He adds on and says that the World Cup is in the USA and its going to be new for everyone, so assessing the conditions for the spinners is very important. He talks about his net sessions being very productive and he looks to do well on the big stage.
Presentation Time...
Earlier in the game, Pakistan got off to a good start but only managed to post a below-par score due to a collapse in the middle overs. The top order consisting of Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, and Usman Khan contributed the majority of runs while Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah added some crucial runs towards the end. England was fantastic with the ball will Mark Wood, Liam Livingstone, and Mark Wood all getting a couple of wickets each while Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan, and Moeen Ali chipped in with one each as well.It was an pretty easy run-chanse for England but more importantly all of their top five batters got some runs under their belt that will give them a lot of confidence going into the main event.
Pakistan, on the other hand, will be dissappointed with their performance as a whole in this game. They had some moments but were never really in the game defending this smallish target. The frontline pacers were taken to the cleaners and were unable to make much impact against the powerful batting of the hosts. Azam Khan also did not have a good game behind the stumps and dropped a couple of chances which you cannot really afford defending a low total. The only positive for them was Haris Rauf who showed some fight and picked up all the three wickets that fell and will look to maintaing this form in the World Cup while the rest have their task cut out.
England got off to an a absolute flier with both Phil Salt and Jos Buttler smashing it all around the park. They utilised the Powerplay perfectly and put a lot of pressure on the bowlers. The duo added 81 runs together before Salt unfortunately got out after blasting 45 off just 24 balls. After that, Will Jacks joined his skipper and did not let the scoring rate drop at all. Buttler was dismissed for 39 while Jacks also departed after a camoe. The job was mostly done by the top order, and Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook finished it off with more than four overs to spare.
ENGLAND TAKES THE SERIES 2-0! A clinical performance from the hosts as they have outplayed the visitors in all three depratments. This is exactly what they would have wanted before going to the World Cup but not so much for Pakistan as they were never looked like challenging the home side in this game or in the series.
