That's a wrap to our coverage of this encounter. The next match of this season's Pakistan Super League involves two teams at the foot of the table - Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi, and their contest will begin at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT) on Friday, 4th February. Do join us in advance for all the action. Cheers!
Shadab Khan, the winning captain of Islamabad United, says that even when you win there are areas you need to improve. Tells that they back each other and go hard with the bat. Admits that they are struggling a bit with the ball at the death and wants to improve. Mentions that the pressure is different when you join a new team and praises Azam Khan for his knock and keeping. Regarding his personal form, Shadab replies that he is very happy to lead from the front and help the team. Emphasizes the importance of fielding and calls it a very important factor in this format, so he wants his team to do extremely well in the field.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the captain of Quetta Gladiators, says that it was unfortunate that they have to change their playing XI at the last moment as Mohammad Hasnain had to pull out. Feels that had they taken their catches and bowled better in the Powerplay, things could have been different. Wants to take the positives and praises Naseem Shah for his bowling at the death and Ahsan Ali for his knock.
COLIN MUNRO IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! The Kiwi says that it was a beautiful pitch to bat on. Adds that he just tried to maintain the momentum handed to them by Alex Hales and Paul Stirling. Tells that he tries to stick to his strength. Regarding Azam Khan, Colin replies that they have total faith in him and it's great to have him on their side.
A quick word with Paul Stirling. The Irishman says that he is disappointed to leave after this game but he has to go for national duties. He is delighted with how things went for his team. Says that there's no pressure when you open with Alex Hales. Adds that they took a lot of batting lessons from the last match and carried it here. Mentions that you don't have much time to adapt and he tries to take the pressure off other batsmen. Praises his skipper Shadab Khan and calls him a special bowler. Hopes that he will bag the Man of the Match award.
A brilliant game for Islamabad United then. They dominated with the bat and put on a massive score and then with the ball, they never allowed Quetta Gladiators an inch to get on top of the game. Islamabad will be a happy bunch. Quetta, on the other hand, will be disappointed as they lost the game in the middle overs, both with the ball and the bat. Nawaz and Faulkner showed how to bat on this wicket and if the top-order batters had done better, things might have been closer.
Ahsan Ali was the only batter who looked in great touch initially as the rest of the batters put on a sorry show. It was brilliant going for Islamabad though. They kept things tight and executed their plans. Shadab Khan was the destroyer-in-chief with his brilliant 5-wicket haul and sealed the game for his team. Mohammad Nawaz and James Faulkner did get a few boundaries away towards the end, but it was too little and too late.
When you are chasing a target as big as 230, the start you get is very important. Quetta Gladiators were 54 for 1 at the end of the Powerplay. This was not as great a start as Islamabad United had in their Powerplay but still good enough to begin the chase. With the pitch looking really good to bat, Quetta would have wanted to carry on with the same momentum after the first six overs but that wasn't to be.
A bit of a flourish with the bat towards the end by Quetta Gladiators but Islamabad United have won this game by 43 runs. This shows how much they dominated in the middle phase and that has given them a massive victory. Quetta Gladiators would be ruing this loss, especially the margin of their loss but they will know that it could have been even worse.

OUT! Nawaz holes out! End of an entertaining knock and an impressive partnership. Hasan Ali bowls another short delivery, around middle, this time Mohammad Nawaz mistimes his pull shot down to long on and Alex Hales takes the simplest of catches in the deep.

DROPPED AND SIX! Short in length and around off, Mohammad Nawaz stands back and pulls it over mid-wicket. The fielder in the deep runs across to his left, tries to take the catch initially near the fence but then attempts to flick it back in. He fails though and ends up parrying it over the fence.

Too full and on off, James drags his attempted shot down to long on and is unhappy with himself. He takes a single.
