Right then, That's it from the coverage of this game. Sri Lanka Legends have got their third consecutive win of this edition, and South Africa Legends needs to comeback stronger in their next game. The action in the Road Safety T20 World Series continues as Australia Legends take on Bangladesh Legends in a short while. Do switch tabs for another enthralling contest. Cheers!
Jeevan Mendis is the Man of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance. He says that in the second half the ball was coming nicely onto the bat and credits the South Africa Legends batters. Adds that their pacers did well to pull things back at the end of the innings and won the game for them. Ends by saying that they have 5 days break and they will reenergize and comeback fresh for the next game.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, the captain of Sri Lanka Legends is in for a chat. He says that as a captain he is really lucky. They have 7 or 8 bowlers in the side and he is really happy they turn up whenever the side needs them. Adds some boys can rest nicely and after the break they will look to put up another solid fight on the field.
Jonty Rhodes, the skipper of South Africa Legends is in for a chat. He says that the guys played superbly and he is happy with the performance against a strong Sri Lankan Legends side. He praises Morne van Wyk for his innings but credits the Lankans for their efforts. Mentions that they wanted to prove a point and everyone gave everything on the field.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, South Africa Legends started well with the ball but leaked apleanty in the death overs to give Sri Lanka Legends the momentum heading into the break. It was Jeevan Mendis' brisk innings of 27-ball 43 proved to be the difference for them in the end.
Sri Lanka Legends fought till the very last delivery and have come out on top here! Tillakaratne Dilshan could not offer much with the blade earlier but he drew the first blood with the ball. Later the rest of the bowlers did really well to keep the run rate in check. Sri Lanka Legends bowlers showed excellent skills in the field as well and that helped them a lot in defending a target of 166 runs. Nuwan Kulasekara stood out with his brace.
South Africa Legends would be gutted with their effort. They were in this game for the most of the innings. Even after losing Andrew Puttick early on, Morne van Wyk and Alviro Petersen did really well to take their side to safer shores. Although, it was the former who ended up playing a lone battle. He hardly found any support at the other end after the dismissal of Alviro Petersen. In the end, it got too much for Morne van Wyk as well and he slipped out at 76 runs. Later, South Africa Legends could not turn up with the bat in the death overs and thats where they lost the game.
What a comeback this has been from Sri Lanka Legends. They have forced a collapse here from South Africa Legends and have recorded their third consecutive win of the campaign. A truly deserving win for the Sri Lanka Legends.
