Right then, that's all from this one-sided affair where Comilla Victorians dominated with both bat and ball to hand a real drubbing to the Chattogram Challengers. With this win, the Victorians move to the third spot in the table. The action in the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League continues on Saturday, the 3rd of February with another doubleheader. It will be Fortune Barishal taking on Khulna Tigers in the first game of the day and it will begin at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT). That game will be followed by Sylhet Strikers locking horns with Rangpur Riders and it will begin at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT), but our build-up will begin much sooner. See you then. Cheers!
Litton Das, the winning skipper of Comilla Victorians. says that it was a clinical performance and he is happy with the way their bowlers performed. On being asked about his performance, he says that he needs to improve and bat well and spend more time on the crease. Appreciates Tanvir Islam and says that he did extremely well with the ball and built the pressure on the opposition.
Tanvir Islam is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliance with the ball. He says that he is delighted to contribute and is happy that the team won. Credits Al Islam for bowling tightly at the other end. Mentions that he looks to stick to his basics and keeps things simple. Ends by saying that he aims to bowl stump to stump.
The skipper of Chattogram Challengers, Shuvagata Hom says that it was a disappointing performance overall. 73 is of course a low total. Says that the pitch was too difficult to bat on. Adds that Tom Bruce played well but they didn't create partnerships. Further adds that they bowled too many extras coming into the second innings, which is criminal especially when defending such a low total. He says they will come back strongly.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, it was the skipper of Chattogram Challengers, Litton Das who won the toss and put Chattogram Challengers into bat. The Challengers were rocked early as they lost Tanzid Hasan in the first over. With the arrival of the spinners, the Challengers began to struggle. Their batters looked all at sea and surrendered themselves against the spinners of the Victorians. Except Tom Bruce, no batter was able to get into their 20s which tells you everything you need to know about their batting effort. The Challengers were rolled over for 72, the lowest score of this year's Bangladesh Premier League. For the Comilla Victorians, Tanvir Islam was the star of the show with figures of 4 for 13 from his four overs.
As for the Chattogram Challengers, it was a game to forget for them where nothing went right for them. Their net run rate has taken a massive hit which no team can afford at this stage of the competition. Having been bowled out for 72, the writing was pretty much on the wall for the Challengers, and it was more about making the opposition work hard for each of those 73 runs. They did not succeed in doing so, as it was a real struggle for Bilal Khan and Al-Amin Hossain to get the ball in the right areas despite getting a wicket apiece. Towards the end, Ziaur Rahman accounted for Towhid Hridoy but it was nothing more than a consolation.
A walk in the park, quite literally for the Comilla Victorians! The defending champions have bulldozed the Chattogram Challengers to register their third win of the season. It was all set up in the first half by the spin duo of Tanvir Islam and Al Islam and the batters made sure to finish the job. With only 73 runs to chase, it was a matter of when rather than if for the Victorians. Mohammad Rizwan and Litton Das did not go all guns blazing and were happy to take their time. Das's low run of scores in the competition continued while Mahidul Islam Ankon could not do much either. Towhid Hridoy batted with intent and brought the Victorians within touching distance. Mohammad Rizwan stayed there till the end and knocked off the remaining runs along side Raymon Reifer.

SCORES LEVEL! On a length outside off, Mohammad Rizwan tucks it gently to long on for a single. Clever batting. Not taking any sort of risk and creeping in with singles. Doing as the situation demands.
Strategic break! Comilla Victorians are just 2 runs away from a comprehensive win here and ending a three-game winning streak of the Chattogram Challengers. Mohammad Rizwan struggled initially but has done well to hang in there. Shykat Ali comes on to bowl what will most likely be the last over of the game.
