Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, England Legends were asked to bat first and they put on a dismal batting show. The spinners of Sri Lanka Legends used the conditions perfectly and destroyed England Legends' batting line-up. They bundled them out for a mere 78 runs. Sanath Jayasuriya was the leader of the pack, as he ended with 4 wickets in his full quota of overs. The bowlers pretty much set up the game for Sri Lanka Legends, they eventually chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and with 33 balls to spare.
Sri Lanka Legends began their chase relatively slowly. The openers took their time to settle in, Tillakaratne Dilshan did play a few fine strokes but he perished soon. Dilshan Munaweera and Upul Tharanga then put up a stand of 39 runs, where the latter played some lusty blows towards the end to guide his side close to victory. He was dismissed soon while trying to wrap things up, Dilshan Munaweera too followed him into the pavilion. But the two had already done most of the work in the chase and Jeevan Mendis then hit the winning runs and took Sri Lanka Legends over the line. It was a tough ask for England Legends! Although they did bowl here and made Sri Lanka Legends sweat for every run. The spinners did well, while the pacers were disciplined as well, and together they took 3 wickets in this innings. Had they had a few more runs on the board, the story could have been slightly different.
As expected, Sri Lanka Legends have chased the target down, but they did so by taking their own sweet time. They were made to work hard for every run and with this, they have grabbed a total of 4 points and have moved to the top of the table for now. While England Legends have commenced their journey in this tournament with a defeat.
