India Women beat England Women by 8 wickets

That concludes the proceedings for yet another one-sided match. On 15th September (Thursday), these two teams will clash in the third T20I at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT) to decide the winner of this series. As always, you can join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Smriti Mandhana (79* off 53 balls) is the Player of the Match. Says that after the last match, they were keen to come back stronger and she was pushing herself to not play any rash shots. She is happy to contribute and help the team level the series. Regarding her good form in England, Mandhana tells that maybe it's due to the good weather to bat and the pitches are also good. Shares that it was one session when she found her touch back and is happy to go out there and try and give her team a good start. On the batting plans with Shafali Verma, Smriti replies that it depends on the day and Verma is also at that age when she knows her strength and together they plan better on which bowler to target.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India Women, says that she is very happy with the effort and admits that in the last game, the intent was missing. Mentions that they have plans for every batter but it is important to execute the plans in the middle. Tells that they wanted to show the intent with their fielding and credits Radha for her efforts as well after getting injured in the first game. On batting with Smriti Mandhana, Kaur replies that when they bat together, they have confidence as they can calculate the approach and batting with Mandhana is easier.
Amy Jones, the captain of England Women, says that they were under par with their total but after the start they had, it was a brilliant recovery from Freya Kemp and Maia Bouchier. Regrets that they didn't have the total to defend. Adds that as a team they want to play fearlessly and she praises the two girls (Bouchier and Kemp) for their partnership. Further adds that it's great to see Freya Kemp putting on a show with the bat so early in her career. Feels that India batted really well and England failed to execute their plans with the ball.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
We can call it a role reversal from the first game! India Women were far superior in all the departments, and England Women were always behind the eight ball. With the bat, they lost five wickets in a hurry, and Freya Kemp's counter-attacking knock handed them a fighting total. The hosts would have hoped for early inroads with the ball, but that didn't happen, and dew made their task even tougher as India Women cruised home without breaking a sweat. Smriti Mandhana put on an attractive batting show and remained unbeaten and she was well supported by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
Excellent response from India Women after going down in the series in Chester-le-Street. They got their act together, first with the ball and on the field, and then the batters stepped up to scale down the target with utmost ease. The Indian openers dominated the first 35 balls of the Powerplay and wrestled the game in their corner very early. The series now stands at 1-1, and we will have a decider on Thursday.
