Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the innings, after opting to bat first, Babar Azam played a lone battle with the blade. Netherlands were excellent with the ball from the word go. Vivian Kingma and Bas de Leede combined for five wickets. They also kept the run rate in check throughout the innings. It was a complete team performance from them. During the chase, Netherlands kept losing wickets whenever any of their players seemed to have their eye in and eventually ended up on the losing side.
Pakistan will be very happy with the way they came back in this innings! They started off brightly with their pacers doing the trick. Although, there was a period when Pakistan found it difficult to take wickets at regular intervals. Nonetheless, their spinners kept things tight with the ball and did not let the batters score freely. It was Mohammad Wasim and Naseem Shah who were the game-changers for them. They both combined for nine wickets and made sure they get their side over the victory line. Naseem Shah stood out with the ball with his fi-fer.
The Netherlands came mighty close this time around but were unable to seal the game! Just like the opposition the hosts were off to a slow start. The Netherlands lost two wickets inside the Powerplay. It was Vikramjit Singh who took his time to settle in and made sure to put away the bad balls although he slipped up straightaway after his half-ton. Later, Tom Cooper also displayed his batting skills and smacked 62 runs. The Netherlands were ahead for most part of the game but they could not hold their nerves in the death overs. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and in the end, the lack of experience in their tail-enders took the game away from them.
A fascinating game of ebbs and flows. Pakistan have done really well here to come back in the game and complete the clean sweep. They have also added more 10 points to their tally in the World Cup Super League standings. Netherlands were in the game for the most part of it but were unable to get over the finish line here.
