That is it from this game then! The ODI series has now come to an end and the focus now shifts on the shortest format. That begins on the 2nd of April, it starts at 0530 IST (0000 GMT). Tillt then, goodbye and take care.
Tom Latham says Matt Henry, Henry Shipley and Daryl Mitchell were really good with the ball. Adds Lanka bowled really well, creidts Young and Nicholls for the way they played. Adds it would have been nice to play all three games but can't do anything about the weather and he is pleased with how the boy have played.
Dasun Shanaka says the batting was not good, they had a chance to score 250 but they kept losing wickets. Adds it is never easy to bat here but they were not up for the challenge. Says they played two Tests before this and the experienced players need to take more responsibilty. 150 was never going to be enough but they bowled well at the start, however, Young and Nicholls played well.
Henry Shipley, PLAYER OF THE SERIES, says he feels good. Adds the wickets had a lot of bounce and he made good use of it. States it is about learning from the experiences and he hopes he can be effective in unfamiliar conditions too. Ends by saying he is looking forward to the tour of Pakistan.
Man of the Match, Will Young says it is good to get over the line, they were under pressure but the partnership with Nicholls came at the right time. Adds he has played here and there are some special memories here. Mentions he is looking forward to the T20I series.
... PRESENTATION TIME ...
Lanka just did not have enough on the board, another 100 runs and things could have well been different. They bowled really well though to begin with. The likes of Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha were very effective with the new balls but as the game progressed, batting got easier and it was too easy for Nicholls and Young. Another dominating performance from the Kiwis to take the series 2-0.
A very convincing win in the end for the Kiwis! The chase though was not all that straight forward at first. They lost 4 in quick succession and were in trouble. They could have lost a 5th too had Henry Nicholls not taken the review and after that, it was all about New Zealand. One partnership is all they needed and it came as Henry Nicholls and Will Young added 100. Young was the mainstay, he batted brilliantly and is the biggest reason for Kiwis winning but Nicholls gave him able support.
