Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 4 wickets
So, that is it from this game and that also ends the group stage! It is TKR who finish on top and out of nowhere, Guyana end on second. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots who started the tournament with 5 wins, find themselves in the third spot and the Kings manage to sneak into the 4th. The first semi-final will be a clash between TKR and the Kings. That will be played on the 14th of this month. All the action begins at 1000 local (1400 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
Trinbago Knight Riders skipper and MAN OF THE MATCH, Kieron Pollard, says they were behind of where they wanted to be when he walked out to bat so he took his chances and it came off. States the most important thing was the two points, they will go and analyze what was wrong and what went right and they will work on it then. Mentions it was all about intent and once you show that intent, no ground is big. Also says if you need to win a tournament you need to beat everybody, the Kings have a good team and nothing can be taken for granted.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots skipper, Dwayne Bravo, says it was a tough day but he was very happy with the fight his team showed. Adds Jon-Russ Jaggesar's second over to Pollard was a gamble, he knew Pollard would go after him and it did not work out. States the semi-final is a different game and against a different team and he is looking forward to it.
PRESENTATION TIME!
Earlier in the day, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, courtesy Joshua Da Silva's fifty were all set to score something around 170. A lot of wickets though towards the end saw them fall well short of what was a par total. They though did really well to make a game out of it but Pollard's knock through the middle overs and Udana at the end helped TKR get over the line.
The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots bowled really well! Have to believe the overs from Jon-Russ Jaggesar cost them the game! He went for 64 in the 4 he bowled. Despite that, they took it deep as the others were very impressive. Especially Drakes, Fawad and Naseem. Probably Bravo missed a trick by not giving Drakes and Naseem their full quota. Had he done that and not given the ball to Jon-Russ Jaggesar, the story could have well been different.
A really close game in the end! TKR though have come out on top and it has to be because of their skipper. Take his innings out and TKR would have struggled big time to chase this total down. However, the start was decent courtesy the openers but all of a sudden they found themselves 3 down for just the 52 runs. Pollard though came out all guns blazing, he went after Jon-Russ Jaggesar and smashed him all around the park. Got to his fifty in no time and when he was batting, it seemed like a walk in the park for his side but once he fell, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed to build pressure. They did well to take it into the penultimate over but Udana kept his cool and with a critical knock, took his side over the line.
