Presentation Time...
Earlier in the game, Trent Rockets Women posted a huge total on the board courtesy of a fantastic unbeaten 60 from skipper Natalie Sciver-Brunt and a quick-fire knock from Grace Scrivens. Ashleigh Gardner and Heather Graham also played a few lusty blows at the death to get them into a strong position in a match where they needed to win. For Southern Brave Women, Lauren Cheatle picked up one wicket but was exceptional giving away just 13 runs. Lauren Bell had three scalps to her name, all coming in the last set while Chloe Tryon and Georgia Adams also chipped in with one each. While chasing, the Brave suffered early setbacks, but Smriti Mandhana and Chloe Tryon kept them in the game, but the target proved to be a bit too much in the end.
Trent Rockets Women, on the other hand, will be happy with their bowling effort. Alexa Stonehouse set the tone for the very first set by getting rid of the two best Brave batters. After, that they struggled for a while, and also missed out on a wicket because they did not take a review. It was some good fielding from them that got them the breakthrough and they were on point throughout the game. Ashleigh Gardner and Heather Graham chipped in with one each which was enough for them to get over the line quite comfortably.
Southern Brave Women needed a quick start chasing this big target, but it was the opposite of it for them. They lost their most in-form batter, Danni Wyatt for a golden duck while Maia Bouchier also followed suit without troubling the scorers. However, then the captain, Georgia Adams took responsibility and stitched up a crucial partnership with Smriti Mandhana. The duo were going along nicely with the Indian playing the aggressor role, they added 59 runs together, but a bit of miscommunication cost the skipper her wicket at the wrong time. Mandhana though carried her form, and smashed 42 off just 27 balls, but with the asking rate creeping up all the time, she perished too. The middle order could not really make much of an impact, but Chloe Tryon tried her absolute best and finished unbeaten on 47 off 31 balls. However, lack of support from the other end meant that they fell short of 24 runs.
Trent Rockets Women keep themselves alive in the tournament! A fantastic team effort from them and they have been the better team from the second ball of this game. Every game is a knockout for them, and they are getting the momentum just at the right time. Southern Brave Women were already knocked out, but they did put a 'Brave' effort in this game which was unfortunately not enough.
