Until then, goodbye and a very happy new year to all!
Jason Sangha is the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock earlier in the day. He says that it was quite tough to start the innings as the bowlers were bowling well. Adds that he took things slow and wanted to spend time at the crease. Says that he got a bit lucky too and that helps a lot. Mentions that he has put in a lot of hard work over the last year or so on his batting.
Stay tuned for the Presentation...
Sydney Thunder would be pleased with their bowling effort as they executed their plans really well on a wicket that seemed to be quite good for batting. It was Saqib Mahmood who set the tone by picking up two crucial wickets of Matthew Short and Matthew Renshaw. There was a passage of play where the Thunder did not get any wicket but they made sure that they did not leak runs and kept the batters in check. Daniel Sams came to bowl after the Drinks break and chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. He used his variations to perfection and finished with 4 wickets to his name. All in all, it was a comprehensive win for the visiting side and they continue to impress.
Adelaide Strikers had a tough chase ahead of them and they have fallen short yet again at their home ground. They did get off to a decent start but lost their way in the middle overs. Jack Weatherald and Matthew Renshaw steadied the ship nicely but just as they were trying to up the ante, both of them perished and the Strikers were in deep trouble. Wells came in at number 4 and he looked quite good in the middle. However, he did not get any support whatsoever from the other end and the Strikers slipped further as the overs passed by. Had Wells got decent support from the other end, it would have been a completely different story and the hosts could have finished on the winning side.
A comfortable win in the end for Sydney Thunder and they register their fourth win of the tournament. Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, have now lost five games on the trot and they would be extremely disappointed.
